General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The General Data Protection Regulation significantly changes data protection law in Europe, strengthening the rights of individuals and increasing the obligations on organisations.

GDPR was approved by the EU Parliament on 14 April 2016. The enforcement date is 25 May 2018.

The GDPR aims primarily to give control back to citizens and residents over their personal data. Organisations in non-compliance may face heavy fines.
